St Vincent's Deaf Football Club have announced the appointment of Dillon Smith as the manager.

              Dillon has a wealth of experience having played for various clubs throughout his playing days;
Fettercairn FC, Newtown Rangers, Dragons Rangers, St. Maeulrans and last but not least St. Vincent's Deaf Football Club.

During his time as a defender for the blues, Dillon tasted success with the club winning the League and the Walkin Cup in the 90's as well as earning himself 9 caps for the national deaf team. He could have had more accolades to his name if St Vincent's had not finished runner-up twice in LFL Major Sunday.

After Dillon hung up his boots, he took on the role of Football Director in the Irish Deaf Sports Association and did an enormously impressive job before stepping down due to his wife, Sinead, giving birth to their second child, Oisin much to the delight of the first-born Callum who had a brother to play with!

St. Vincent's Deaf Football club are very much delighted to get Dillon on board and hope that he can bring success to the club once again. His term comes into effect immediately after the match against Belfast Deaf United this Saturday in which the club secretary, John Smyth and club chairman, Geoff Foy will be in charge of on a temporary basis.

Everybody at the club wishes Dillon the best of luck. We are all behind you.

Futsal Report Vs KISS DFC 20/05/2009

              10th May 2009

              St Vincents 19 - 1 KISS DFC

Needing TDFC to beat the Over 35s to keep us in with a shout of winning the league, we set about demolishing KISS DFC as we needed to rack up the goals to make up for the goal difference between ourselves and Over 35's in the case we were to be level on points on the last day of the season. Bolstered by the return of our captain Jason Maguire, we ran riot and notched 17 goals. We were rarely threatened and only a silly mistake from defence led to KISS grabbing their only goal. We poured forward at every opportunity to decrease our goal defect in the league.

We now go into the final match day of the season to play the Over 35's our closest rivals for the league title. We must win this match by X goals to capture the league title.

First Five: Ciarán Moloney, Colm Keogh, Sean Herlihy, Paul O'Callaghan and Jason Maguire.

Subs: Brian Daly, Alan Smith, Rino Giglione and Liam Moloney

MOM: Jason Maguire - Linked up very well with everyone
KISS DFC: All of them LOL

Futsal Report Vs Tallaght DFC 20/05/2009

              10th May 09

              St Vincents 5 - 6 Tallaght DFC

Due to the limited number of players available to him at the time of selection, Ciarán Moloney had to start a first five that did not have a sense of balance about them. Just before kick-off other players arrived but it was too late to change the starting line-up. We got off to a disastrous start, making sloppy mistakes and were 3-0 down within 5 minutes. Already by that stage substitutions were made in a bid to stabilise ourselves and get back into the game. We hauled ourselves level at 5-5 with 5 minutes to go when we won a penalty. Unfortunately much to everyone's surprise Daly sent it wide. We constantly swarmed Tallaght's half in search of that elusive winner but were caught out by a counter attack move which was finished by Jon Smyth's shot from an acute angle that squeezed past Ciarán Moloney to give Tallaght DFC their first league victory with practically the last kick of the game. It was a cruel way to finish a game but nonetheless nobody can deny Tallaght deserved 3 points after their performance.

First Five: Alan Smith, Paul O'Callaghan, Rino Giglione, Ciarán Moloney and Liam Moloney
Subs: Roy Maguire, Colm Keogh, Brian Daly and Sean Herlihy

MOM: Paul O'Callaghan- Constantly harassed TDFC

TDFC: MOM: Jon Smyth- Attacked at every chance

The Wheels Are In Motion!! 07/05/2009

              Three years after our disbandment, St. Vincent's Deaf Football Club officially reformed tonight. A meeting was held at the Deaf club and a new committee was elected as follows;

              Chairperson: Geoff Foy
              Secretary:
              Jon Smyth

              Asst Secretary:
              Ciarán Moloney

              Treasurer:
              Nicholas Dowling

              Asst Treasurer:
              Robert Archer

              Commitee Member:
              Dillon Smith

              Commitee Member:
              Nick O'Halloran

              Commitee Member:
              Liam Moloney

              Commitee Member:
              Jason Doyle

There remains to be some work done and the commitee will do everything in their power to register a team in the AUL league and to regain the use of the pitch in Cabra as their home ground. We ask players and members of the Deaf community to be patient with us as we get underway with our immediate plans. Over the next few days, the first visible change will be the banner on this website which currently reads "St. Vincent's Deaf Futsal Club". It will of course be changed to "St. Vincent's Deaf Football Club" but nevertheless St. Vincent's will continue to have a bunch of players representing them in Futsal.

In the meantime, we will continue to train tuesdays and thursdays at 7pm sharp in Cabra until the end of this month in preparation for the match against Belfast Deaf United Deaf Football Team.

We'd like to take the opportunity to wish them the very best of luck in the British Deaf Cup Final this saturday. They are taking on Everton Deaf football team in the city of Belfast. Kick-off is at 12pm for those who want to watch.

              Thank you for your support.
