Alrite lads (and lasses!)
It's that time of the year again where we look into the possibility of reforming St. Vincent's for the upcoming season 09/10. Last year we had several training sessions and a meeting but it never got off the ground. This year, it'll be done slightly different.
After Easter we will be having weekly training sessions in Cabra, starting off once a week and then as we come into May, we'll look into training twice a week to prepare for the match against Belfast Deaf United FC which has been scheduled to take place in Cabra on the 30th May.
I feel it important to stress that it is up to players who are interested in representing St. Vincent's in the league next season to attend these training sessions because there is no better way to express your desire to play for St. Vincent's by turning up for the training sessions every week.
Towards the end of the training period, a judgement will be made based on overall attitude and desire shown by players throughout these sessions. The result of this judgement will ultimately determine if we will enter a team into the league for the upcoming season 09/10 or not. At some point before the match against the boys from Belfast, we will have a formal meeting to discuss where to go from there.
Regardless of the outcome of the decision made on the future of St. Vincent's DFC, the match against Belfast Deaf United FC will go ahead so this way whatever happens, you will at least have the chance to tog out in the famous blue jersey to bid goodbye to the past, and to embrace the future of the club which lies in your hands. The next chapter of the St. Vincent's history book is blank. It is up to us all to pull together as a team, as a community and leave behind us a legacy that will be told to our future generations, just as stories from the past generations have been told to us throughout our tender years.
I hope you will spread the word and play your part in creating interest within the Deaf community about the possible reformation of St. just Vincent's Deaf Football Club.
Please keep an eye on this website for formal notification of when training starts.
Cheers,
Ciarán Moloney
