              St Vincent's DFC

Shamrock Celtic 1-1 St. Vincents 16/02/2010

Another tough game for St. Vincents but the team were ready after some tough training and last weeks performance. Once again a few changes had to be made due to injuries and other commitments.

                                                     1. Roy Keating
2.Rob Archer     4. John Smyth   5. Brian Conolly    3. Tmmy Doona
7.Jason Doyle   6. Damen McMahon  8.John Greene   11. Jason Maguire
                                     9. Chris McGovern 10. Paul O' Callaghan

              12. Justin Smyth for Chris McGovern
              13. Anthony Maher for Rob Archer
              14. Gary Bayley for Jason Doyle

Match Kicked off and within the first 3mins a quick over the top ball let Shamrock in with a one on one chance which they converted.              St. Vincents were shocked  but kept the heads up. Once again, Roy kept us in the game with a few saves and quick clearances, with this he picked up a heavy knock but fought on...

The team started to get into the groove even with the poor state of the pitch, Damien Mcmahon was applying himself in centre in the park and Jason was getting some joy down the left. With a quick few passes, Paul o' Callaghan broke through down the left and pulled across to Chris Mcgovern who duly headed it in but  only for the ref to disallow this to disputable offside. Few chances came and went before the whistle went for half time.

Geoff and Stuart were pleased with the effort but believed in the team to up it once again and push for the win. This had a big effect and the team decided to push up and make it a tighter game, with this St. Vincents were starting to win the 50/50s Paul o Callaghan and Jason were combining down the left to cause them such a problem they made a few changes.

Oppurtunity came after a quickly taken free-kick played Paul through on goal which was drilled into the bottom corner, Shamrock were rattled and St. Vincents pushed on for the winner. A few injuries once again led to a couple of changes  seeing Anthony Maher getting more game time and Gary Bayley making this seasons debut.

Unfortunately for St. Vincents, shamrock celtic's keeper came to the rescue as he made 3 saves in the dying 5minutes denying Justin, Jason & Paul.

Another draw but unbeaten in 2games and strong 90min performance.
Geoff announced MoM was:  Damien McMahon & Timmy Doona
